About Mitzpe
What is Mitzpe Institute?
Mitzpe Institute is an educational program of the Atlanta Israel Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It covers Israeli security, diaspora threat assessment, and the strategic challenges confronting the Jewish people and the West, and its analysis is read by policymakers, military leaders, and institutional decision-makers across more than 95 countries and all 50 US states. The work reaches the Knesset, the US Congress, allied foreign ministries, and Jewish organizational leadership worldwide.
Who runs Mitzpe?
Uriel Zehavi is the Managing Director of Mitzpe Institute and Mordecai (Modi) Zehavi is its Technical Director, an applied mathematician whose quantitative work anchors the institute’s methodology. Both are directors of AIC, whose founder and executive director is Cheryl Dorchinsky. Fellows and advisors carry the imprint behind their own published work.
What changed in October 2026?
The Mitzpe Institute became an educational program of the Atlanta Israel Coalition. Billing on every Mitzpe paid subscription stopped, and membership now comes through AIC. Nobody at AIC is paid.
Is Mitzpe credible, and what is the methodology?
Mitzpe analysts work from the ground in Gaza, in Judea and Samaria, and across Israel, with a quantitative methodology grounded in applied mathematics. The institute runs its own polling and field research as primary data feeding the published record. The standard is verified sources, structural analysis, and probability language where certainty is not warranted — facts first, adjectives last.
Who reads Mitzpe’s analysis?
The analysis reaches the Knesset, US Senate offices on both sides of the aisle, allied foreign ministries, and institutions from Brookings and Hudson to AIPAC and the AJC. The reader base runs past 10,000 subscribers across 95-plus countries and all 50 US states.
The publications
What is the Israel Brief?
The Israel Brief is Mitzpe’s assessment of Israeli security and Middle East affairs, published Monday to Thursday. The Flash Brief, a curated scan of what moved overnight, publishes free by email on Substack. The full brief publishes on mitzpe.org for members — analysis across the war, Israeli politics, regional developments, diaspora affairs and security, and the shorter items in Briefly Noted.
What is free, and what is for members?
The Flash Brief and every Field Dossier are free. The full Israel Brief, Closed Dossiers, Vantage, and Watchwords are for members. Membership comes through AIC, from $9 a month or $72 a year.
What are Dossiers, Vantage, and Watchwords?
Field Dossiers are forensic, long-form analyses of specific events, actors, or structural questions, sourced and built to be cited (roughly 20 to 25 a year, free). Closed Dossiers are tactical and operational material with sensitive sourcing, for members (roughly 15 to 20 a year). Vantage is the monthly strategic synthesis with probability language and scenario work, and Watchwords is the week’s analysis turned into framing and talking points, published every Wednesday — both for members. See the dossiers page for the full library.
How often does the brief publish, and when does it not?
The Israel Brief publishes Monday through Thursday. It does not publish on Shabbat, or on Fridays in preparation for it, and it pauses on Jewish holidays and observance days.
Where is the archive?
Every edition of the Israel Brief publishes on mitzpe.org, and members read the whole archive, back to September 2025. Search across all publications is on the site.
Membership and support
I had a membership. What happens now?
Your billing stopped in October 2026 and nothing more will be charged. Sign in from your account with the same email as before. If it no longer opens members’ work, membership now comes through the Atlanta Israel Coalition. For anything the account page does not cover, write [email protected].
How do I become a member?
Through the Atlanta Israel Coalition, at atlantaisrael.org/join. Individual membership starts at $9 a month or $72 a year, and organizations can take partner seats for their people. Mitzpe comes with it. Then sign in here with the email you joined with.
Is a gift tax-deductible?
Gifts to AIC, a 501(c)(3), are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows, and AIC’s join page shows how much of each membership level is deductible. Subscriptions paid for before October 2026 were not deductible.
Does giving give me any influence over the analysis?
No. A gift buys no say over what Mitzpe publishes. Donors and members do not see analysis before publication and do not commission it.
Contact and corrections
How do I reach the right desk?
Use the contact form and choose the topic — press, speaking, fellowships, subscriptions, or events — and it routes to the person who handles it, with press and time-sensitive inquiries taking priority. You can also write any desk directly from the email directory on the contact page.
Is there a secure or confidential channel?
Yes. For tipsters, sources, and anything sensitive, Mitzpe can be reached off the record, including via Signal and an encrypted Proton email address listed on the contact page.
How do I request a correction?
Email [email protected] with the address of the piece, the claim in question, and the source for the correct information, and Mitzpe answers within five business days. To flag a potential conflict of interest, use the dedicated address on the disclosures page. Mitzpe writes to a forensic editorial standard: verified sources, structural analysis, and probability language where certainty is not warranted.
Who funds Mitzpe, and is the analysis independent?
Mitzpe’s work is paid for by gifts to AIC and by AIC memberships, and Mitzpe Press authors give AIC $1 a copy. It does not accept gifts or sponsorship from foreign governments, government-aligned entities, or political parties, PACs, or campaigns, and it runs no sponsored content. A strict donor–editorial firewall keeps the analysis independent: donors do not see, approve, edit, or veto analysis before publication.
