Israel is planning a longer Iran round than Washington is, and Eisenkot goes for the Knesset speaker's chair before he has a government.
A lot of what's being aimed at Jews and at Israel this morning is on paper. A Thai nationality act, a French exhibitor's rulebook, a House sanctions bill, and a PAC ad about the price of eggs. You don't need a weapon for any of it. Israel's own moves came in uniform.

- Winter: Israeli intelligence says Hamas plans a winter campaign of flooded-tent pictures, and COGAT counts over 85,000 tents sent in. See Israel and the World.
- Michigan: Haley Stevens says Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan's Democratic Senate nominee, owes an apology for blaming Israel for what Michigan can't afford. See Israel and the World.
- Thailand: Thailand strips Chabad's Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor of his citizenship, and a Phuket rally demands all seven Chabad Houses close. See Briefly Noted.

Underneath a lot of today is an argument about who gets to decide what Israel does next. Hamas is counting on a winter's worth of photographs to get a say, and it's had one before. Inside Israel the question is narrower, and the law's already answered it: until the Knesset seats somebody else, the cabinet that's sitting decides.
